Welcome to ... a land of myth and mystery located in the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Pennsylvania... a park rooted in Celtic spirituality and inspired by the Isle of Iona off the coast of Scotland... an outdoor sanctuary open to the public as a sacred space for quiet meditation.

Columcille Megalith Park and Celtic Art Center, an outdoor sanctuary, is open for your "personal spirit journey." It was inspired by the Isle of Iona off the coast of Scotland. Its owners describe it as a "sacred space for quiet meditation, protected under conservation easement with the Heritage Conservancy. The park adjoins the residence of its co-founders."

Trail & Path Info

Wooded trails criss cross the 17 acres of beautiful mountainside, bringing to all the interesting spots within the park. Though we got to the park a bit too late to explore the whole thing, we certainly want to head back and see every inch of Columcille!

Tips and Tricks

Columcille is located on the Kitatinni Ridge of the Appalachian Mountains in eastern Pennsylvania, USA -- less than two hours' drive from New York City and Philadelphia. The convenient location, proximity to the Appalachian Trail, and friendly relationship with Kirkridge Conference Center next door attract over 4,500 visitors annually for quiet retreat and meditation. Those who wish to stay a while can find accommodations at Kirkridge or in the town of Stroudsburg.

Picnics are not allowed onsite, unless they are part of a planned activity / event.

Columcille is open to the public daily from dawn to dusk.

The main address worked well for us using a Graming GPS: 2155 Fox Gap Road, Bangor, PA 18013 Parking is found along Quaker Plain Rd, which is right next to the park.

Related Groups / Organizations

The unique spirit and inspiration of Columcille has been recognized by the National Museum of Art at the Smithsonian Institution, which includes it in its catalogue of cultural heritage sites. On June 21, 1997, the park was placed in conservation easement with the Heritage Conservancy to ensure its preservation as a sacred space and outdoor sanctuary. As a non-profit organization, Columcille is financed through the donations of visitors and friends and the generous support of its Members.
