About Dey Mansion Museum

The Dey Mansion Washington's Headquarters is a historic house museum, listed on the State and National Register of Historic Places curated to provide the visitor experience of stepping back in time. As you walk through the front door you are transported back to the Colonial Era and the home of Col. Theunis Dey in the year 1780, when it served as General George Washingtons Headquarters.

The museum is operated and maintained by the County of Passaic. Visitors to the Dey Mansion can tour the historic house, view different exhibitions of the collections, and take part in a range of educational and public programming.

Trip Ideas

Guided Mansion Tours

Guided tours are offered daily Wednesday thru Sunday. Tours of the Mansion are about an hour in duration and leave on the hour beginning at 10:00 am (no tours between 12:00pm - 1:00pm). General admission can be purchased at the Visitor Center.

Group Visits and Tours

Advance reservations are required for all adult and student groups of 10 or more, and for any third-party guided tours, regardless of size. For more information or to make a reservation, please call our offices at 973-706-6640.

School Group Programs

School programs are offered Monday thru Friday (except holidays) between the hours of 9:30 - 2:30 pm. Programs generally run 90 minutes. For more information or to make a reservation, please review school programs or call us at 973-706-6640
