Just wanted to share a reminder to never let your dogs off-leash in public places, unless within an enclosed dog park. This is for their safety, other people's safety, and just to ensure they do not run away. Keep everyone safe.

May 1. 2014: Visiting Oasis Family Farm in central New Jersey (with video)

Oasis Family Farm in Robbinsville, NJ is a new 'agritainment' destination in central Jersey. The Farm prides itself on providing a fun family experience, while teaching the visitor about farming activities at the same time. Attractions include a Honey House, a Gem Mine, playground, farmstand and seasonal events.

We recently visited Cattus island to better understand why the Cooper Env Center was still closed. We found ripped down walls, exhibits that need to be thrown away, and mold throughout the building.

Feb 10. 2014: Great Cause / Event: Ice Bowl at Ocean County Disc Golf Course

On Jan 25, 2014, Ocean County Disc Golf club the South Jersey Disc Golf put on their first annual Ice Bowl at Ocean County park. 52 players braved the elements, raising $590 and donating 180 pound food for Ocean County Hunger Relief.

Jan 16. 2014: Featured Place: Allaire State Park

Allaire State Park is a great place to bike, camp, hike, jog, hunt, Geocache and paddle. It allows us to enjoy all our favorite activities in one place, right in the middle of NJ.

We visited Allaire this evening for a small walk and was surprised to see "new trails" cut out behind the village. A quick google search later, we find that you will be having a haunted hayride!

For the GetOutsideNJ project to grow, I would need to drive around NJ, randomly, everyday, all day. What we really need is help from all the state, county and muni parks around NJ.

We slowly started emailing campgrounds, park systems and any "outdoorsy" groups this evening. We hope to build a close relationship to these type locations to ensure the site is always up to date!

Dec 30. 2012: Featured Place: Union Transportation Trail

The Union Transportation Trail is ideal for equestrians, hikers, walkers, joggers and bicyclists. The packed gravel, linear trail leads you 4 miles through Cream Ridge.

Apr 26. 2012: Featured Place: Cheesequake State Park

Cheesequake State Park has great hiking, camping, biking (1 trail), swimming areas, fishing area, nature programs and more. The trails are well maintained and well marked. The campground has large sites, and clean bathrooms. Their picnic areas are large with ample room for everyone. That is why we are happy to feature Cheesequake State Park.

Apr 15. 2012: Freedom Fest State Fair back at Horse Park of New Jersey

A GetOut visitor emailed us today with a great event that was missing from our calendar! This year, the Freedom Fest State Fair will be held July 10 through July 15th. They have also moved the location back to the Horse Park of NJ.

Mar 29. 2012: Featured Park: Shark River Park

Many people that we talk to tell us that they visit Shark River Park at least once a year. Other people have never heard of it. We feel the latter should never be the case. The trails are great to walk / hike / jog. They are also well kept, and trimmed back. The playground off Schoolhouse Road is very modern, and always busy.

Mar 23. 2012: Featured Park: Mercer County Park

Mercer County Park is simply a great park. The trails are great for walking, biking, jogging and more. The tennis courts are beautiful, and well kept. The dog park is fun for dogs and there pets. Do you kayak or paddle? If so, head out onto the lake for a relaxing time. With all the scheduled events and special shows, there is always something fun going on in Mercer County park.

Mar 16. 2012: Allaire Tuesday Beginner Group Rides starting April 10th

Starting April 10th 2012 @ 6pm sharp (conditions permitting), JORBA will bring back a very fun weekly event...the Allaire Tuesday Beginner Group Ride.

Oct 23. 2011: Giant tortoise, friends get a permanent home at the Popcorn Park Zoo

Back in Sept, the Press had a story about a Highlands resident that was raising multiple tortoises in their backyard. It looks like the Turtle Back Zoo was able to adopt the "little" guys.
